Sliders Sports Lounge

Sliders Burg Beat By Ian Moffet

Well, if you like to have a beer and watch the game, have a nice meal, play some arcade games or maybe a mixture of all three, the Sliders Sports Lounge may be the place for you. You’ve probably seen Sliders sometime since it opened last year. It is conveniently located right across the CWU campus off of University Way. Meaning you can experience this unique restaurant for yourself.

What makes Sliders unique?

Not only is Sliders a sports bar it also is a family restaurant. In one section of the establishment you have an atmospheric sports bar fit for any avid sports fan. You may even be able to catch one of the UFC fights at the bar. In fact, I was able to watch the recent Jon Jones fight at UFC 285 at this bar.

But if the bar is not your scene you have a restaurant aimed at serving families. Even with a sports bar just down the hall, the family restaurant does create an atmosphere fitting for children and families.

“On the other side here at the family side. It's all kids family stuff and then plus the arcade,” Kurt Thomas, one of the owners of Sliders says.

“ We offer different things that other businesses do not and to see the kiddos come in here…is incredibly rewarding to me.”

You’re not going to see any restaurant near Ellensburg with an arcade except for Sliders. From Cornhole to Air Hockey, this section of Sliders seems to have all the makings of a fun arcade.

“There were always arcades to go to as a kid, but those are becoming far fewer nowadays,” Thomas says.

“There's no real place for…even adults to play arcade games…kids love to play games. No matter what they are. And in Ellensburg, there's not a whole lot of options for children to go do that.

Sliders and CWU

Thomas is a CWU alumni and aims to not just make Sliders a place for sports bar goers and families, this is a place for college students as well.

“Being right across the street from the college is pretty cool,” Thomas says.

“Coming over here just to do homework with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and being able to have some cheap food and we're really trying to navigate the menu to make it affordable for even college students.”
